Chance

Ch Blueheron’s Chance of a Lifetime, CCA, CGN ( Chance) – April 15, 2005 – July 24, 2018

There are no words to describe Chance and the bond we had.  He was a permanent fixture by my side.  I was his person and he was my canine soul mate.  It still doesn’t seem real to me that he is gone.  Never has a dog been more devoted to me. I wouldn’t have changed a thing in my 13 plus years together.  Life will never be the same without Chance.

He was born in our home 13 years and 3 mos ago.  He stood out in his litter by always looking at me the way he is looking at me in the picture below.   I sadly let him go to his new home as planned and I can remember the day he left like it was yesterday. He was in his home for 2 weeks and I had 3 phone calls back telling me they had trouble with him digging in their garden and also he wasn’t sleeping long enough in his crate. Very happily, I offered to take him back.   He was returned at 10 weeks of age, his name was “ Teagan”.   I changed it to “ Chance”.  After about a week Jim kept asking if we were getting any calls for male puppies and I, of course, told him “No everyone seems to want a female”.   My connection with Chance came again at 10 weeks of age and I knew he was going to stay.  Having him returned was the best thing that ever happened to us.
Chance did many things in his life.   He visited many nursing homes and we started a program at our Perth library where kids would read to him.  He loved to visit our local banks where everyone knew him and would always give him a treat.   Chance won many group placements in the show ring as well. He also was asked to be in a movie that took place in Westport, in his typical style he did great and really was the star of the movie “ Gentle Bend”  His favourite place was our cottage where he would fish for as long as you would let him. The pontoon boat rides will not be the same now.   Chance really lived up to his name of  Ch . Blueheron Chance of a Lifetime.    Until we meet again …….

Jali

Chigal’s Kissing a Fool… Jali – April 1, 2005 – November 2, 2018

The evening skies have welcomed a very bright new star. We were so very fortunate to have Jali in our home and hearts from the time she was 6 years old. Thank you so much to Lisa Wright for sharing Jali with us. She was such a special spirit, watching over us, just as her mother, Rainey, and her grandmother, Audi, had done before her. No matter how long we have these golden lights in our lives, it is never ever long enough. Jali left us to be amongst the brightest of stars and the bluest of skies, with no decisions to make. She left her way, quietly and surrounded by love. Learning to lose is the hardest lesson of all a lesson I don’t that that we ever completely learn to master. Instead, we learn to live with our loss, and, as Irving Townsend wrote, “We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.” Jali, fly free to the Land of Endless Treats!
