This recipe originated in England. The original recipe comes from Nature’s Children, revised and expanded, by Juliette de Bairacli Levy (author of The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat).

Ingredients

2 cups finely grated raw carrot (grated by hand or food processor)
6 raw egg yolks
6 tablespoons water or stock
1/2 teaspoon salt

Beat the egg yolks, water, and salt.  Mix the prepared carrot into the egg mixture.  Grease a casserole and pour in the mixture.  Bake in a 350F degree oven for 30 minutes.  To serve, cut in strips.

Modified Recipe

2 cups finely grated raw carrot (grated by hand or food processor)
6 raw egg yolks
6 tablespoons water or stock
1 teaspoon sea salt (optional)
3/4 cup hard stone ground whole wheat flour (or other grain, e.g., barley, oat, millet, kamut, spelt, brown rice)

Whirl all ingredients together in a food processor or blender.  Bake as above.  Cut in cubes.

Note:  You can add freshly grated garlic to this recipe, or anything else, you deem appropriate for your dog’s diet.
